JK Health & Nutrition was founded by Jane who qualified as a dietitian in 2006, with a Masters degree in Nutrition and Dietetics from the University of Nottingham. Since then she has balanced her time between NHS dietetic work and research, at some of the leading institutions in the UK.
In 2012 Jane was awarded her PhD in human nutrition. Her PhD investigated the control of appetite and the metabolism of food after eating. Her PhD also investigated how the foods we eat can affect mood, appetite and performance. Following her extensive research experience, Jane is able to take the latest research and evidence and translate it into practical guidance, to enable her clients to make appropriate lifestyle and food choices. She is passionate about her work and aims to offer high quality, client focused, nutritional and dietetic advice.
During her career Jane has completed research for large multinational companies and presented her findings at national and international conferences. Jane also works as a lecturer in Nutrition and Dietetics at Coventry University, in addition to running her weekly dietetic clinics.
Jane is fully registered as a dietitian with the British Dietetic Association, the Freelance Dietitians Group and the Health & Care Professions Council (DT18285). She is also a fully accredited Counterweight practitioner.
Registered dietitians (RDs), such as Jane, are the only qualified health professionals who assess, diagnose and treat nutritional problems at an individual and public health level. Dietitians are the only nutrition professionals to be statutorily regulated, and governed by an ethical code to ensure that they always work to the highest standard. As a result the title dietitian can only be used by appropriately trained professionals who have registered with the Health & Care Professions Council (HCPC), and whose details are on the HCPC website.
